Article VII. Meetings

Section A. Executive Board shall meet twice a month upon a time that is agreed to by its members. This will be an opportunity for Executive Board members to:

  1. Discuss current issues that face the organization.
  2. Make policy decisions for the organization.
  3. Discuss financial status of the Black Student Alliance.
  4. Make reports of any actions.
Section B. The General Body shall meet at least once a month. General body meetings will serve as the purpose for:
  1. Discussions of issues that are relevant to the Black Student Alliance.
  2. The Executive Board to inform the General Body of any community service activities or new policy decisions.
  3. Black Student Alliance members and all other persons to make announcements or ask for support.
Section C. Each Committee shall meet at least twice a month with regards to hold any additional meetings at the discretion of the chairperson. This would be an opportunity for committee members to:
  1. Discuss upcoming projects
  2. Discuss issues that need a committee’s attention
  3. Consult about any other concerns, questions, etc. that may need the attention of the Executive Board or General Body.
Section D. Parliamentary procedures include:
  1. Once the meeting is called to order, the minutes from the previous meeting shall be read aloud.
  2. Old business, then new business will be taken care of first.
  3. Committee and Officer reports.
  4. Announcements and/or questions.
  5. Adjourn
  6. Follow the latest edition of Robert’s Rules of Order.
  7. A quorum must be reached in order to carry out a vote. A quorum is a simple majority of the current-voting members present at the time of the vote. In the case of a tie, the Recording Secretary delivers the deciding vote.
Section E. Special Meetings
  1. Special meetings consist of meetings that require emergency planning or action.
  2. Special meetings are determined on a needed basis. The President obtains the right to call a special meeting at his/her request.
Article VIII. Finance
  1. The Black Student Alliance will gain annual income through process of dues payments from its perspective members. Dues are set at the amount of $10.00 annually.
  2. Dues will be collected at the second meeting of each new school year.
