President's Message

In My View...from the President's Desk

It is my pleasure to welcome fellow Telecom Society members to fiscal year 2001-2002. I am honored to serve this year as your 11th President. Serving with me this year are Tracie Metzler, Vice President of Communications; Sheri Keyser, Vice President of Programs & Webmaster; Dan Sullivan, Secretary & Treasurer; and Dr. Andy Finn, Telecom Society Faculty Advistor.

As the newly appointed leadership for George Mason's Telecom Society, we are excited that you have chosen us to act as your voice within the GMU tech community and the Northern Virginia technology corridor at large. We recognize, however, the promotion and success of our Society not only depends on us, but also on the members.

So, it is our hope that we will increase the excitement, enthusiasm and direct involvement of each and every one of our members as the 2001-2002 term moves forward. To be a success, our Society needs its members--namely you--to speak up and become a stakeholder in the decisions we make throughout the year. Part of your involvement could include being a regular visitor to our website, attending our biannual events, or volunteering on one of our committees.

As a leading university educating technology professionals, it is important that we come together as a community, to network with each other and provide resources that will allow members to rise to challenges both educationally and professionally. The continued growth of the Silicon Dominion depends on the business leaders and professionals GMU graduates. These men and women will become tomorrow's workforce, propelling us through perhaps one of the most explosive times in technology history.
