Brad Stephens - President

"Hello everyone, my name is Brad Stephens and I will be your JSA president for the 2017-2018 school year. I’m a Global Affairs major with a minor in Japanese Studies. I’ve joined JSA as a member in my first year, then I became historian in my second year, and here I am now as president. The reason why I joined JSA is because I love the Japanese culture. I enjoy the cuisines, traditions, and the activities. I’m looking forward to a fun year with everyone.

James Bruniany - Vice President

“Hey guys! My name is James Bruniany and I will be serving as your vice president. I’m a senior majoring in Global Affairs with a concentration in East Asia, and a minor in Japanese Language. I’ve been to Japan twice, for a study abroad trip and an internship, and I’m grateful for the friends I’ve made there. I’m very interested in kendo, J-dramas, and East Asian history and I’m currently studying for the JLPT N2 test in December. Looking forward to having a great year with everybody!”

Scott Williams - Secretary

"Hi, everyone! I am Scott Williams, and I am the Secretary of the JSA. I am in my second year at GMU. I am majoring in Applied Computer Science with a concentration in Computer Game Design. I am minoring in Japanese Studies, and I’m hoping to study abroad in Akita, Japan this upcoming summer! I have been interested in the Japanese people, language, and culture since my early teens, and I look forward to sharing that passion with you all in the coming year!"

Margaret Carson - Treasurer

"Hi there! My name is Margaret Carson, and I’m the treasurer of JSA and a grad student at George Mason. I’m a Secondary Education in English major, and I have been studying Japanese academically since middle school. I went to Japan on the Akita study abroad program George Mason offers, and I loved my time there! I’ve been a JSA officer since my second semester at George Mason, and I’m so happy with how far we’ve come! Let’s continue to make JSA grow together!"

James Bruce - Webmaster

"Hello! My name is James and I'm your JSA Webmaster! I'm currently a sophomore majoring in computer science and minoring in Japanese Language. I love watching Japanese films, reading manga in Japanese, and learning about traditional Japanese culture. I did not have room to take Japanese this semester, but I have continued to study by practicing writing kanji and learning Japanese songs. Tell me what you think of this web site.
