Unit: Health Administration and Policy
The master’s program in health and medical policy is offered jointly by the College of Health and Human Services and the School of Public Policy. It prepares students to become health and medical systems policy analysts, consultants, and public health advocates in the US and internationally. It provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for improved national/international health systems planning and decision-making and to support policy formulation, resource allocation, and advocacy for health and medical professionals and health systems. Students applying to the program will be admitted to one of two concentrations: Health Policy or Global Medical Policy .
The Health Policy concentration provides students with humanistic and analytic skills necessary to propose, design, implement and analyze pragmatic policy-centric solutions to a myriad of complex domestic social and health system problems.
Admission Requirements
The following requirements are for students applying to the Health Policy concentration.
Applicants must meet the admission standards and application requirements specified in the Admission chapter of the catalog and must apply using the online Application for Graduate Admission. The application process is competitive, and applications are considered for the fall and spring semesters. For application deadlines and detailed application requirements please refer to Graduate Application Database. Submission of GRE or GMAT scores is not required except for the School of Public Policy students seeking merit-based scholarships.
Transfer of Credit
Students may transfer a maximum of 12 credits into the Health Policy concentration from graduate courses taken at other institutions or taken at Mason in nondegree status. Transfer credit is subject to university and college policies and must be approved by the program director and the dean. Students who enroll initially through nondegree studies should seek course advising through the department and should submit their application to the MS program in their first semester of study. |
