Voice News Computers Versus The
Classics
Governor Gilmore has asked GMU to better serve the Information Technology Industry in Northern Virginia. The response of the administration of George Mason University has been terrible in many ways, bordering on sabotage.
GMU is way behind the curve in many areas of E-Commerce. Its Library has done next to nothing in the area of digitalization of books. Digitalization means students have effective access to materials they need to be good students.
If you ask the library, for example, how many books they have that are digitalized they will tell you, NONE, even though there are thousands upon thousands of books that are digitalized and available on compact disc.
Not one GMU produced Masters Thesis or Doctoral Dissertation has been digitalized. Hardly a single course is being offered on the Internet. It is like the computer revolution never reached GMU. The support services for computer literacy barely exist and are conducted in a careless ineffectual manner. Student email services are a joke.
So, firstly, the school is NOT serving the Internet Industry and Electronic Business of Northern Virginia effectively, and secondly, it is using the PRETENSE of serving that industry to cut vital courses in the Classics.
That’s right! Instead of cutting the FAT in goofy, kinky cultural diversity, and other Politically Correct junk courses, it is cutting the heart out of Classical Education.
It is cutting the heart out of languages. Languages which kids entering international trade for the business community need, to expand markets for Virginia and America in the new global economy. The Military and Peace Keeping also need additional language instruction.
Knowing even a few words in a few foreign languages, and using the right accent, is often the difference between an American company or someone else getting the contract. GMU should have a policy of encouraging students to take one semester each of several languages without having to commit to intensive majoring in them and without being abusively flunked out of them by revenge-minded elites.
GMU “Academics,” in a fit of pique at the Governor, are cutting the heart out of the Classical Studies that we need to make us a civilized people able to do things like invent computers. Kids who dare to take Latin, for example, are subjected to punishing fail rates in the very first semester, and are harassed by abusive professors intent on driving as many students as possible away from the study of languages. Is this being done with administration connivance? Why would these “teachers” treat these students this way if they were not being enabled higher up?
Another area of punishing fail rates is Accounting which is a prerequisite for entering MIS and other Hi-Tech majors. Who is behind trying to discourage students from pursuing a Hi-Tech Education by busting them out on gateway entry courses like Accounting? Likely, more disgruntled Liberals guarding their pet social-engineering boondoggles. Can’t anybody smell a rat here? GMU needs a clean sweep of Liberal obstructionists in all departments, at least in the policy-making areas.
The bottom line here is we are seeing a reaction by anti-computer technology, and anti-business academics. They hate technology and the business world that needs it, and their way of getting revenge is to cut the heart out of the Classics, which they hate also. What these Liberals love is socialist, cuddly, gooey, politically correct, mushy, PC fluff courses that teach students to be good Democrat sheep, Baa, Baa. What they like are courses that teach anti-Americanism, anti-Europeanism, anti-Constitutionalism, and anti-Dead-White-Male-ism.
They, the Liberals, hate technology and the Classics of freedom that made that technology. They long for the good old days of plantation-like totalitarian Socialism ala Stalin and the Berlin Wall.

will be appreciated. The attempt here, as in
much of what we present, is to give students and the general public a focused,
working, knowledge on as many topics as possible in as concentrated a form as
possible. In this age of information-overload we want our donors to read
less with greater effect. We make no pretense, (and that is what it is,) of
objectivity. No one is, or can be, objective. They can only pretend to be. We
have a subjective viewpoint, and it is transparent. If you think we have
overlooked something that could help our benefactors and supporters, let us
know. Obviously, we have generalized and exercised selectivity in the service
of honesty, brevity and clarity. You may contact WNU Washington National
