Inexpensive Dates For Poor Students

1 These beautiful national treasures are close to the Campus, most less than 30 minutes away. Many if not all of them are accessible by train or bus, and most of them free. They have plenty of parking too. It is your chance to rip-off the government and the rich who have spent big bucks creating these places for you to use and enjoy. They have good clean rest rooms and some of them have food. Most of the time it’s best to take a sack of food for snacks and drinks.

These places are basically peaceful, quiet, clean, AND educational. You could get extra points in a lot of classes just for having it be known you were there. Your parents will be pleased if you can drop the mention that you went to a couple of these.

On top of which these great mansions can be sort of romantic, especially for the girls. Their parents are always telling them to date and marry guys who take them to these kinds of things.

For you guys, it’s your chance to be thought of as thoughtful, intelligent, and considerate, instead of, well, you know what.

In alphabetical order here are some picks. If you have some of your own write in and we will check them out and add them to the list if they pass the test. Don’t ask what test.

2 Green Springs Park is for plant lovers. They have an Arboretum and every plant and flower you could imagine, along with every herb, and a library dealing with all this. The building and grounds are new and beautiful and there are acres and acres of ponds, ducks benches and hideaways. It is far from traffic and noise and free, free, free. Bring a picnic lunch and spread it out on the grass.  It is a little hard to find so listen up. It is off of Little River Turnpike, Main Street to you, and right where Braddock Road crosses it. The health food store is in the center on the corner and is a good place to snack up. Fresh Fields is a secret find all by itself and there is one of them in Vienna also.

The Masonic Temple in Alexandria is one of the wonders of the world. It is on Spy Glass Mountain or something where snipers dug in. Anyway you could and can see all the way to Washington DC and the Capitol view is something. It is like 20 stories high and the elevators that take you to the observation deck don’t go straight up but go up on an angle so the meet at the top close together. The library is incredible and the guides are these great old Masons who love the place and answer anything you ask. There is a room there that is furnished with the exact furniture that George Washington sat in to conduct the meetings when he was President of the Lodge, the first one in America. Didn’t know GW was a Mason huh? Well this place you will never forget.
