MSA Short Story Script Contest
Do you have a video idea but don't have the means to shoot and edit it?
Enter the MSA Script contest! Winning script author will get the chance to
direct their story into a short film (a video crew will be provided) and have it played at the
MSA Open Mic Night on April 30th.
Contest:
Write a script for a short film that is no longer than 5 minutes. The genre
is open to whatever you'd like: comedy, drama, thriller, documentary, sorry
no chick flicks. Submit your script to

March 31, 2008. Production will start ASAP!

Insha'Allah the DC Council will be hosting
Project Smiles on Saturday, March 22 at the Capitol Hill Nursing Hospital.
Please come join us to bring smiles to the faces of the elderly by making
door to door visitations at the nursing hospital, Insha'Allah.
The Capitol Hill Nursing Hospital is a nonprofit organization as part of the
Specialty Hospital of Washington.

The funds will be dispersed to Muslim American Society (MAS) community center being built on Edsall road. Upon completion, the new Masjid facility will include the Washington Islamic Academy (WIA), an expansion of religious services, and a youth center. This will give you ajar for life! Each an every child that goes there, each and every person that prays there, and each and every prayer that takes places at MAS will add to your good deeds. SUMMER 2008 RESEARCH ANALYST POSITIONS
The U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) has recently established a Washington, DC area unclassified open source analysis unit to conduct research related to national security issues and is seeking undergraduate and graduate student summer research analysts who can conduct native language research on the Internet, apply social science research methods to identify social and political trends, and critically analyze and present information. Positions are also available for science and technology majors to conduct Internet research and test new applications/tools.
Students majoring in the following areas are encouraged to apply: Middle Eastern Studies, Persian Studies, South Asian Studies, Asian Studies, Russian Studies, Comparative Politics, International Relations, National Security Studies, Intelligence Studies, Economics, Political Economy, Cultural Anthropology, Comparative Sociology, Demography, Nuclear Engineering/Physics, Computer Science/Engineering, Defense Studies, Social Psychology, Public Policy, History, Political Geography, Library Science/Information Management, and Geographic Information Systems
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to conduct research in Farsi, Arabic, Mandarin, Russian, French, Spanish or Urdu (Level 3 or higher reading proficiency required) or significant coursework in a scientific or engineering discipline
- Excellent research and oral and written communication skills
- Advanced analytic/critical thinking skills
- Advanced Internet proficiency
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Completion of at least sophomore year by summer 2008 with strong academic credentials (3.2 GPA or higher desired)
- U.S. citizenship required, however, no security clearance is needed
COMPENSATION:
Hourly rate will be commensurate with education and experience. Positions are for a 40 hour week for a maximum of 10 weeks. There are no benefits other than free parking. The location is not accessible by public transportation.
