  Darnel Brandon

Darnel Brandon is a graphic design major who is from Arlington, VA. He graduated from Washington-Lee High school, where he participated in various choral, jazz, and musical theater ensembles. He is a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Arlington where he was a member of the Youth Committed to Christ youth choir and is currently apart of the Empowerment Praise Team. Darnel's first college choice was Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA where he was a voice performance major. He was in the Fall 2001 opera The Elixir of Love as well as a part of various choirs. Although Shenandoah was a great start for Darnel, he transferred to George Mason his second year of college. Darnel believes that God had a new plan for his life by leading him to George Mason and respects God's process.

 

This is Darnel's second year as the assistant director of the Anointed Voices of Unity Gospel choir. Some of the other activities Darnel participates in are the Impact Movement, the President/Provost Student Advisory Council, and he is the assistant layout editor at the Broadside, George Mason's award winning student newspaper. Darnel gives thanks and praises to God for blessing him with the talent of singing and the ability to minister to others. His favorite gospel artists are Kirk Franklin, Karen Clark Sheard, and Dorinda Clark Cole. His favorite bible verses are Psalm 9: 1-2: “I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”
